One is beginning to run out of superlatives for Benjamin Bernheim – his Werther on the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées was excellent. Christof Loy’s spare staging, first seen at La Scala in 2024, set the bar excessive for the musical forces with all the things resting on their shoulders.
